This is a site for swimming pool owners. My name is David and I have been in the pool industry forever, or maybe it just feels that way. I have persued every avenue available to me for training well before the internet was around and have benefited from hundreds of different sources of both formal and informal training.
The outcome of all this training is that I regularly solve problems that other contractors can't even understand. Through this website I am offering you the opportunity to utilise my expertise.
There are several ways to do this. You can join the newsletter and get irregular newsletters with useful information like below. Or you can ask a single question and get a free answer, alternatively you can take advantage of the design service I offer and get a report and recommendation of solutions like this report example here. Finally if you really need my help we can discuss options for a complete site supervised installation and design service.
The site is a useful resource for swimming pool owners. Have a look around the site and you will be surprised how much free information there actually is here. Ask a free question and be pleasantly surprised at the follow up and regular contact until your issue is dealt with.
By the way I also offer these services to other swimming pool professionals so you too can take advantage of these services.
What Others Are Saying
Clive Sewart had an issue on an infinity pool he was having built in Spain. An infinity pool is one where the water flows over the edge to be collected in a trough before being taken away by the pump system to be returned to the pool again.
The problem with infinity pools is that pool builders typically think the trough is somehow related to the pool size. This is most likely because they are pool builders. This isn't correct though. The trough relates to the equipment selection and has no direct relevance to the pool size ----- sort of. I applied a combination of an Italian standard and some common sense to solve this issue.
Here is what Clive has to say about dealing with me.
After a great deal of web searching and realising that there was very little genuine help out there I was lucky enough to find David.
I found David genuinely an expert in this field. He was patient when I didn't understand what he was telling me and took the time to explain everything to me in detail. Including helping me with the trough size (volume etc) required.
The original trough had to be replaced with a new one in order to get the pool to work correctly, and with his help it now works beautifully.
Since helping me with my design he has gone on to create this website to help others. I wish him well with his endeavour and hope other pool owners will benefit from his great all round know how and simple approach.
Regards
Clive Sewart

Reducing Energy with Pipeworks
In this article I examine the humble pipe and what effect it has on the system performance and more importantly energy costs.
The article includes a handy chart for correctly sizing your pipework to the most economic point between energy and cost of pipe to get the best performance possible from the pool equipment.
The best filter system in the world is useless unless there is a way to clean it adequately. In Cartridge systems we clean or replace the cartridge in DE systems we replace the media in sand filters we backwash the dirt out.
In backwash the sand bed of the filter should be expanded about 20-30% to ensure dirt collected in the filter is expunged.By reversing the flow through the filter at the correct rate this can be done. However backwashing is such a critical part that any pool support system design should commence from this perspective first.
I choose to care for our environment whilst recognising the industry I am in is reliant on some chemicals that cannot be avoided. This is a practical compromise between what I can do and what must be done to protect you and your family’s health.
As from time to time as I can think of ideas, I will in the newsletter be making every effort I can to show you suggestions that will reduce the environmental impact of pool ownership.Whilst maintaining a safe environment for you and your family within the pool.
In this article I am going to show you a method to reduce the amount of waste water produced during the backwash cycle of your sand filter.I know more about sand filters than anyone needs to know so if I waffle off in some particular direction please forgive me.
